Step 1 Review

Ask students think about the questions below to review, let them try to use make + object +v. /adj.

1. What can affect our feelings and moods?

2. How do they affect you?

Step 2 Presentation

Lead students to see what else can affect our feelings and moods, present the pictures of the things in 1.Let students talk about how things in pictures affect their feelings.

Let students listen to 1 and answer the following questions,

Why does the moon make the girl sad?

Why does the man can’t sleep at night?

When it rains, what’s the boy’s feeling?

Which color can make the girl confident when she feels sad?

How does the topic of the Beijing 2008 Olympics affect the girl’s feeling?

Let students read 1 and find out “feeling” words. Show slides.

Let find out the important and difficult points. The teacher and students solve them together. For example, “too…to…”

Step 3 Consolidation

Let students read 1 again and complete the sentences on the slide.

(1) Sometimes, the moon makes me ___ sad.

(2) I feel very lonely, my eyes ____ ____tears.

(3) At night, it’s ____ noisy for me ____ fall asleep.

(4) Orange and yellow can ______ me _________ and cheer me ____.

(5) Wearing red often ______ me active.

Lead students to retell 1 according to the pictures and the point words.

Step 4 Practice

Talk about the influences of different things on feelings in 2 with the students. Let students learn and master “noise”.

Divide students into eight groups and each group stands for one aspect. Make sentences as many as possible after the examples. The group which makes the most and correct sentences wins.

Step 5 Project

Make a survey.

Ask students to work in groups of four to interview their group members. What can affect their feelings? How do they affect them? And then record the results and write a passage to report .

Then ask some students to show their work by reading their passage.
