Teaching procedures

Step 1 Warm-up

1. Make a greeting and have a free talk:

(1)What’s the weather like today?

(2)What are you going to do after you finish your homework?

2. Play a game: Help the tiger cross the river.

(1)Where is the tiger going? What’s the tiger going to do?

(2)Read the words and expressions on the bridge and help the tiger cross the river. ( swimming, flying kites, cooking, watching TV, eating)

Step 2 Presentation

1. Introduce the animals’ hobbies and teach new words, expressions and sentence patterns.

(1)reading stories;

(2)I like…; What’s your hobby?

(3)dancing;

(4)singing;

(5)playing football;

(6)doing kung fu;

2. Introduce the teacher’s hobbies and teach new sentence patterns.

(1)Have Ss guess the teacher’s hobbies ,then introduce with the sentence patterns“I like…I also like…“;

(2)Make a dialogue:

---What are your hobbies? ---I like…I also like…

(3)Have a dialogue with students and introduce hobbies with the sentence patterns“I like…I also like…and…“;

(4)Ask and answer with students and have them make a dialogue:

---What are your hobbies? ---I like…I also like…and…

3. Listen to the recording and talk about Zhang Peng’s hobbies.

4. Work in pairs

Have Ss look at the pictures of sb’s hobbies and make a dialogue with their partners.
