(1) Look through the listening and know the requirement of the listening material.

(2) Preview the dialogue and underline the strange words or phrases.

(3) Guess and find out the meaning of “Jasmine Flower”. Sing the song in Chinese before class.

6. Teaching procedures:

Step1: Warm-up

(1) Divide the Ss into three groups. If they answer the questions correctly or they are very active, I will give them a box of milk. The milk is from Zhang Peng’s pen pal, Peter.

(2) Let’s sing.

Listen to a song about Zhang Peng and try to find his hobbies.

(3) Check the answers.

(4) Review the sentence pattern “What are …’s hobbies? He/ She likes…” by asking Zhang Peng’s friends’ hobbies.

(5) Ask the Ss what your hobbies are. The other Ss report his or her hobbies.

Step 2: Presentation

(1) Let’s try.

① Read out the two sentences of the listening material.

② Listen to the tape, judge true (T) or false (F).

③ Check the answers together.

= 4 ﹨* GB3 ④ Ask another question. Where is Peter from?

= 5 ﹨* GB3 ⑤ Check the answer and tell some knowledge about New Zealand.

(2) Let’s talk.

①T: Peter likes basketball. He has many hobbies. What are his other hobbies? Let’s listen to a tape and fill in the blanks at first.

Listen to the tape. Fill in the blanks and find the Peter’s hobbies.

Then check the answers.

②Watch the video and answer the questions “Where dose Peter live? Whom does Peter read to?”

③ Check the answers.

④ Explain the difficult sentences “He lives on a farm, so sometimes he reads to the cows! I’m going to teach him the Chinese song ‘Jasmine Flower’!”
