III. Teaching procedures

Step 1: Lead-in

Watch a clip from Friends and think:

What caused the misunderstanding?

T: “Got the keys?” She meant, did you get the keys?

“Got the keys.” She meant, you got the keys.

So that’s the tone that makes the difference.

【设计意图】:中国孩子在口语表达中不太注重语调,而这又是与外国友人交际中非常重要的一个部分,因此先通过《老友记》中因语调错误而产生误解的片段引入,让学生意识到语调的重要性。
