Step 1 Revision

Review some fun facts about animals and people.

T: Boys and girls, in Unit 5, we have learnt many fun facts about animals. Let’s have a revision. Look at the pictures and say something about the animals.

P1: There are no bones in the back of elephants’ feet—only fat.

P2: Fish sleep with their eyes open.

P3: A giraffe has a long neck, but there are only seven bones in its long neck.

P4: A snake eats little or nothing for months in cold winter.

P5: Camels live in very dry places. They can live without water for a long time.

P6: Ants can smell things well.

P7: Someone can draw a circle with one hand and draw a square with the other at the same time.

P8: The artist can draw a 3-D picture with chalk .

P9:A young man travelled around over 80 countries by bicycle.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Free talk.

(1) Do you like eating sandwiches?

(2) Do you know how to make a sandwich?

2. Search for some information about sandwiches.

T: Simon wants to write an article about sandwiches. So he is searching for some information on the Internet.

3. Answer the questions.

(1) What did John Montagu like doing?

(2) Why did he put meat between two pieces of bread?

(3) Did others like this kind of food?

(4) Who did the food get its name from?

4. Notes about sandwiches.

T: Try to get some key phrases from the article, and take some notes. Here are Simon’s notes. Read them and try to keep them in your mind.

5. Simon’s article about sandwiches.

T: According to the notes, Simon writes an article about sandwiches. Please read the article by yourselves.
