A.Talking about animals
Step1. Lead-in
Play a video about the film Zootopia. And then ask:There are many animals in the film.Do you love them? Do you want to know more animals?
Step2. Pre-listening
Show the pictures in Part A1 and ask students: Look, there are some animals. Do you know their names? Present the new words camel,snake and ant. Teach these words in time.
Step3. While-listening
1.Tell students: Mr. Wu and Suzy are also talking about animals. Play the tape for A1 and ask students to put the pictures in the correct order.
2..Tell students: Suzy is afraid of animals. Mr. Wu wants to help her . He is telling her some interesting things about animals. Get students to listen to the tape and complete Part A2 on page 63. Invite four of the students to read the answers. Listen again and check the answers.
Step4. Post-listening
Say to students: Now you know something about these four animals. Can you use your notes to help Suzy write a thank-you letter to Mr. Wu? Turn to page 64 and finish Part A3.
Invite a student to read the letter and check the answers then get all the students to read the letter together.
