Step1: Lead-in

Watch the video. T: Of all the places, I like the library best because I love reading

Do you like reading in your spare/free time?

Step2: Presentation

1. Different types of books

T: There are many types of books around us. Can you tell me what type of book you like best?

(1) History (2) Science (3) Novel (4) Travel

(5) Health (6) Cooking (7) Culture (8) Play (9) Cartoon.

2. Part A

T: Write the type of book under each picture. Then put a tick in the box if you have read this type of book before.

4. Part B

T: Sandy and Daniel are also talking about their fabourite books. Let’s Listen to the conversation and answer the following questions.

(1) What is Daniel reading?

(2) What does Sandy read in her spare time

T: Read the conversation and answer the following questions.

(3) Why does Daniel like reading history books?

(4) Does Sandy like reading history books?

Step3: Practice

1. T: Read after the tape . Pay attention to your pronunciation of the proper nouns

2. T: Work in pairs and talk about the type of book you like and why you like it. Try to recommend some books to others. You can use the conversation and expressions on the screen as a model.

3. Act out the dialogue.Stimulate students’ interest and create a harmonious learning environment

Provide some background knowledge for the students to help reduce the diffculty of the following listening.

Ask the students to read after the tape to improve their pronunciation.

Ask the students to use the phrases and sentences to talk about their favourite books and tell others the reasons. In this way, they can improve the ability of expressing themselves.
