分析

The students have been learning Chinese poetry since childhood, which makes them quite familiar with some poetic devices, that is, rhyme, rhythm, imagery and so on. Their knowledge of Chinese poetry along with their Chinese teachers’ frequent analysis of the beauty and art in Chinese poetry will surely help them a lot in the study and appreciating of English poems in this class. Besides, what they have learned about English poetry in the Reading section will also pave the way for the leaning in this class. Finally, my students, as teenagers, are full of curiosity and they have a keen sense for beauty in the art of language, which will provide motivation for their learning and exploration in this class.

内容

分析According to the standards of English curriculum, students in senior high school should be able to identify the rhyme and rhythm in English poetry and recite and appreciate some simple English poems. With poetry as the topic, this unit first asks the students to look back upon the poems they have learned before and talk about the purposes of people writing poems in Warming up and introduces the students to some simple forms of English poems and some poetic devices, such as rhyme, rhythm and imegery. On the basis of such preparations in these two sections, three poems —— Twinkle, twinkle, little star, I’ve saved the summer and A red red rose —— are presented for the students to listen to, read and appreciate. The first poem is quite familiar to the students and has clear rhyme and strong rhythm, which is helpful for the students to feel the music-like beauty of poetry. The second one is from our textbook. This poem conveys deep love using images, which can bring the students a chance to appreciate the strong emotion expressed and the picture-like beauty in a poem. The last one is a classical and well-known poem in English, which is not only beautiful but also similar to some Chinese poems in the emotion and the ways to convey such an emotion, which is not only interesting, but also helps the students to realise that English and Chinese have something in common in language and culture, and this will surely enhance their cultural awareness.重点To identify the rhyme and rhythm in English poems.
