write a passage to describe Canada by introducing a city of it.

Teaching difficulty and importance:

learn about some basic information and talk about Canada.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Revision and Lead-in.

Show students some pictures to review some information about Canada and the trip to activate their knowledge learned in last period.

设计意图:通过图片和问题激活学生在上一节课中已经习得的信息,为继续下文的学习做好准备。

Step 2.Pre-reading.

Look at the pictures & the title. Predict what the text is mainly about.

A. the whole trip in Canada

B. the cousins’ feelings during the trip

C. what they have seen and done during the trip from Toronto to Montreal

设计意图:通过联系上文内容,结合文章标题和图片,预测课文内容,培养学生的预读能力。

Step 3.While reading.

Scanning.

Read the first two sentences of each paragraph to get the main idea for it.Pick out the key words in the sentences to get the structure of the passage.

Careful reading.

Pair work: read the passage paragraph by paragraph to locate the detailed information about the trip.

Group work: retell and discuss in groups.

Retell the whole passage in the time order in their own words according to the information to talk about what they saw and did.

设计意图:训练学生获取信息、处理信息和英语的口语能力,能将所得信息经过理解变成自己的语言用口语表达出来,增强学生学习英语的信心和兴趣。

Step 4. Post-reading: writing.

Suppose the situation :If you go to Canada some day, which city will you visit? Why?

设计意图:训练学生处理信息和写作的能力,培养学生的英语思维能力。
