Understanding modeled sentences to describe a certain sequence of activities.

Teaching methodology:

Learning-centred approach

Cooperative language learning and Task-based language teaching.

Teaching procedure:

Ⅰ. Pre-task preparations:

Review the school life of Happy Primary School through watching the video collection and Alice’s dairy of school life.

Free talk. Help students talk about their school life by the help of language frame. And share school life with their partners. Assessment will be done by themselves and their partners in two aspects, i.e., pronunciation and performance.

Ⅱ. While-task procedures:

Look at a picture on the PPT. And let students think what do they want to know from this picture and what do they want to ask. Through asking, guessing and answering the questions proposed by students themselves, they get something from the dialogue. Then the teacher show some questions for them before watching the whole video.

Watch the video and try to answer the questions below.

① What are they doing?

② What are they talking about?

Instruct the students to think “when we make plans, what should we do?” and conclude the elements we should consider, eg. When? Where? Who? How?

Search for the details by listening first and reading the text next.

i. Listen and answer the questions:

①When is the Open Day?

②Who will come to school?

③Where will they meet?

④When will they meet?

ii. Listen and match. Listen to the audio and match the pictures. And then students try to find the transitional words of ordering( first, next, then, after then, finally) by listening the dialogue again.

Compare the different time “now” and “ future” in the time axis. And ask and answer the Open Day’s activities of Happy Primary School. Next, students read the whole dialogue aloud together with the appropriate pronunciationandintonation. Then think and retell the text by the blackboard-writing.

Show some pictures of different places in our school. For our school Open Day is coming next Monday, encourage students to make a plan for it. And then share their plan for the Open Day .

Ⅲ. Post-task activities:

If you are the interpreter, what will you introduce your school? Send some word cards to group leaders and guide them to introduce the place in English. If your group gives us a wonderful interpretation, then the parents will visit your place successively. At last, we will form a class plan for the Open Day.

Make sentences by using the the transitional words of ordering. How to put an elephant into the fridge?First / Next /Then I’ll ....

Our school lifeis also wonderful and fun. Show and enjoy a video about our daily school. Happy Open Day, Happy Every Day.

Please try to introduce our School Open Day.
