Learning processes:
StepⅠ: Lead-in
T: Good morning, boys and girls!
Do you like reading newspapers?
S: We can learn what has happened or is happening home and abroad.
T: Good. Do you read newspapers everyday?
S1: No. I would like to listen to the radio.
S2: I surf on the internet.
S3: I watch TV every day.
T: Very good. I’m very glad you get news in many ways. Now, what news are you most interested in? I’d like you to discuss it with your partner. Then I will ask you to speak out your opinion.
StepⅡ: Pre-reading
◆T shows the pictures on the screen and ask Ss to have brainstorms: what’s in the papers. ( from the screen )
◆During the process, teacher write the following words from Ss: social problems, political issues, current affairs and so on.
StepⅢ While-reading
◆Ss read the newspaper articles, match them with the headlines and tell what types of newspapers they are from,
◆Ss listen to the texts and answer the questions on the sheets, at the same time teacher explains some difficult choice to them.
StepⅣ: Reading
◆Ss read the newspapers and try to fill in the blanks on the students’ sheets.(teacher can also let certain student write words on the blackboard.)
◆Ss read the newspapers and deal with the cultural reference.
◆Ss analyse the difficult sentences.
StepⅤ: Post-reading
Ss work in groups and do an interview about most of the daily newspapers people read in Britain are national papers. However, in the US, the most popular newspapers are local papers. What about people in China, national or local ? Why? How about you?
