Teaching procedures教学步骤

Step 1 Leading in导入

Ask students to sing together a song named If I Were A Boy by a female, an American singer Beyonce. Later, inspire students to think about why I were is used here instead of I was. Students will come to the answer subjunctive mood is used here because the singer is a girl not a boy.

学生齐唱美国女歌手碧昂斯的歌曲《如果我是男孩》,启发学生思考正确的语法应该是I was, 为什么歌手唱的是I were, 因此引出本堂课的主题if条件从句中虚拟语气的运用。

Step 2 while learning

看电影学虚拟

Show students a clip from the movie Big words of western tour to make students loosely understand the relationship between Zixia and Zhi Zunbao.

给学生放一段周星驰主演的电影《大话西游》的片断,让学生大概了解男女主角至尊宝和紫霞之间的故事。这是一个充满遗憾和悔恨的故事,正好应对虚拟语气的用法,对过去、现在、将来所发生事情的假设、想象和遗憾。

品台词悟虚拟

By presenting some famous movies lines, the teacher asks students to observe those sentences and thus conclude the features of the subjunctive mood in if-clause used in different times, past, present and future.

依次按照过去、现在、将来的时间,展示出电影当中的经典台词,以电影台词为依据,通过设计不同题型的练习让学生再次巩固对if条件从句中虚拟语气结构的掌握。

1. If I had not pulled the sword out, I wouldn't have fallen in love with her.

2. If I were not (didn't become) the Monkey King, I wouldn’t let her go.

3.If we should/were to turn (turned) into common people some day, we would live with each other.
