Welcome to the unit.

Step1:Lead-in

Show some pictures to the students.

Let Ss talk about “What can he/she/it/they do?”

“What is his/her/its/their ability?”

Step2:Presentation

板书 “ability”.

T: “She can swim. Swim is her ability.”边说边把单词“ability”写在白板上,然后带领学生朗读。

解释中ability的意思。

可以请一位学生说出ability的中文解释,然后问“I want to know your abilities. What can you do? What abilities do you wish you could have?”学生根据自己的情况回答,教师根据学生的回答灵活对答,导入新知识。

Work in groups of two, and ask your partner’s ability

e.g. S1 :What’s your ability?

S2:I can swim. What’s your ability?

S1:I can draw pictures.

展示超人图片,What abilities does Superman have?

Step3: Practice

Listen to the tape and answer the questions below

What does Eddie want to be?

What does Eddie want to do?

What does Hobo say when Eddie wants to fly?

Can Eddie fly? And is he Super dog?

板书Look out=be careful

Read it.

Listen to the tape again and read after it.

Play out

Work with your partner. One will play the role of Eddie, the other Hobo. You can talk about other abilities of Super dog.

Talk about the abilities of the Superman

Step4: Welcome to the Unit

Show the sentence. With great power comes great responsibility.

We should use our abilities to help to others. Would you like to help others? What can you do for others?
