(2) stimulate students’ interest in becoming a good doctor, and give patients effective suggestions.

Key points:how to give suggestions, the usage of the model verb “must”.

Difficult points:use the step words, first, second, third, finally properly.

Computer multimedia projector, a stethoscope, a nurse cap.

Ⅳ. Teaching procedures

Step1 Review

Review the illnesses (have a cold/cough/headache/toothache/backache, have the flu)

The purpose is to consolidate what students have learnt and it is also the preparation of the new class.

Step2 Pre-listening

1. Free talk. What should we do to prevent the illnesses?

The teacher presents some pictures and gives each group a piece of paper. The students talk about the question according the pictures and write down the key information on the paper. (The discussion will make it easier for student when they listen to the conversation. It also makes the students know how to give suggestions.)

Step3 While-listening

1. Listen to the conversation and try to answer one question. (What are they talking about in the conversation?)

The purpose is to grasp the main idea of the conversation.

2. Listen to the conversation again and check Dr. Li’s advice.

This step aims at making the students know some details about the conversation.

3. Watch the flash and write down Dr. Li’s advice.

This step is mainly for improving students’ language expression ability.

4. Watch a video, try to imitate the pronunciation and intonation. (This step is the preparation for their acting.)
